Two weeks into January, the 2010 TMS-IOS team season has already started out with a bang. Although so early in the year to be much more considered as a training day, two team members then trained with conviction. Comfortable 45-54 degree weather and a later (11:00 a.m.) starting time, made it a fun day for all. The FS series crew once again put on an excellent event, the first in the Inside Out Sports 4-City Duathlon Series.
New team member Mason Boyles, at just 16 years old and one of NC’s premier young talents, exploded off the starting line to lead all racers in the cross-country style 3 mile first run, posting a more than convincing 16:15 split. Mason was eventually passed by last year’s winner on the bike leg; nevertheless, Mason was fastest on the second run, placing him runner-up overall. Watch for him this season!

Kristin Villopoto repeated as overall female winner, leading all women by 3 minutes, and placing 10th amongst the men. Fairly happy with how the runs felt, the day showed her she’s got work to do on the bike.
