Jeanna Chain is starting her third year of racing on ETTT. She has competed in Sprint, Olympic, Half Ironman, and Ironman events. Noteworthy accolades are a top 4 AG finish at the Ford Half Ironman World Championships with the second fastest overall female bike split and a Half Ironman PR of 4:32:23. Afterthat race in particular, her teammates were heard chanting "23.9!!"upon seeing her. This was her average bike speed for that entire raceand we find it both impressive and quite terrifying at the same time!
So off she went to Kona, where she completed in her first fullIronman in 10:52: 55. She'll tell you she can do better but we allstill think it was a breakthrough performance for her. She tells crazyrace-day stories like throwing away all her fuel bottles when theydidn't taste good and taking in whatever was on the course. Wow! She's secretly a nutritional daredevil as well.
Jeanna is in many ways the darling of the team, though she doesn'tknow it. Every last one of us simply adores her and she's a delight tocompete with. But don't be mistaken, her quiet smile and impeccablemanners hide the killer athlete within. Stay out of the way on thebike, as this sweet woman with a most fitting last name will surely putyou in your place.
When Jeanna is not swimming, biking, and running, she has the fulltime responsibility of running thefamily household, working part-time at Inside Out sports, and being aSuperMom. She has been married for 16 years and has 2 children, Lauren(13) and Dylan (11), and a Golden Doodle who sometimes accompanies heron runs. That dog must be a wicked fast runner by now!
