I was born and raised in Denver Colorado. I completed my first triathlon when I was 8 (IronKids), I loved it but chose to focus on soccer, basketball and year round swimming instead. My father was transfered my senior year in high school to Charlotte so of course I went the opposite way for college in Oregon. I toyed with the idea of doing triathlons but ended up just swimming with a masters team and running every once in a while.
When school ended I decided to move to Charlotte, I knew absolutely no one except my family so I joined a local masters team and a running group. The swim group ended up talking me into doing a triathlon and they really helped me train and figure everything out. I did my first adult triathlon that year, MAP and loved it. I was definitely hooked on the sport. It helped me lose weight and get back into shape. I tried my first olympic distance race and really enjoyed the distance. From then on I've just enjoyed training and competing. Maybe some day down the line I'll do longer races, I did one half but haven't gone further, however I will say I really do enjoy doing marathons.
A couple years ago I decided triathlons and training were so great I wanted to help others so I decided to go back to school. This May I'll have a Masters degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
Triathlons have done so much for me and helped me grow in so many ways, I am so fortunate to be able to give back everyday working for Inside-Out Sports and am excited to give back through the team as well. When I'm not out training you'll find me at the Charlotte store.
