About the TMS-IOS Triathlon Team
The Triangle Multisport-Inside Out Sports Triathlon (TMS-IOS) Team was formed in 2006 to help foster growth in the sport of triathlon in the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) area of North Carolina. Most team members reside in the Triangle or surrounding communities, and the majority of team activities and team sponsors are local to the Triangle. The TMS-IOS Team accomplishes its mission through racing locally, nationally and internationally, as well as a variety of other triathlon-related and volunteer activities.
The 2006 through 2017 teams were made up of 15 to 30 athletes who represented the team in local, national, and international triathlon, duathlon, and running events. The 2018 roster has 20 athletes, each selected for their proven racing abilities as well as their commitment to the continuance and development of multisport, their integrity, care of community, and sportsmanship.
Recap: In 2017, TMS-IOS team members were victorious at 14 different races, and had over 50 podium finishes (Top 3 overall)! Members of the team competed in over 40 different races in North Carolina last year. We had multiple team members qualify and/or race in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, the team has many United States Triathlon Association All-Americans and have multiple members that have qualified for The Boston Marathon.
The 2018 team will again sponsor several major events in the Triangle as a means to raise awareness about the sport of triathlon and support the local community. In the past, the team has held triathlon clinics about bike fit, run form, swim stroke, training tips, transitions, nutrition and other topics. The team will also help to stage the Tarheel Youth Triathlon Series, which consists of 3 races throughout the summer. These races raise money for Kids Tri NC, a non-profit organization.
Once again, we expect our athletes to shine in 2018. We have several individuals who will be competing in the USAT Age Group National Championships, USAT Collegiate National Championships and some who will represent the United States at ITU World Championships. We also have athletes who are participating in Ironman™ events. We plan on 2018 being as exciting as ever!
